I couldn’t be more excited about a new Star Trek show revolving around Captain Picard, but I’m not paying for yet another subscription service (sorry CBS All Access). Instead, I’ll speculate what the new show will be about:
- Picard just retired from Star Fleet. Star Fleet wanted to make room for new officers.
- He goes to Risa (horga’hn in hand) in hopes of lifting his spirits and figure out what to do next.
- After days of moping around, Picard finds Guinan running a tourist bar by the beach.
- Picard’s excited to see her, they reminisce, but she says she’s about to leave. They’re sad.
- Then Guinan has an idea. Picard could run the bar while she’s gone!
- Picard reluctantly agrees because he really has no better plan (and he can drink all of the Romulan Ale he wants from Guinan’s secret stash).
- Each week one or more Star Trek characters come to Risa (like the Love Boat or Fantasy Island).
- Example shows: Dax is adjusting to a new host. Jake needs writing inspiration. Seven hasn’t aged a day causing a rift between her and Chakotay. Molly O’Brien is on an obsessive quest to find a time portal, etc.
- After settling in at the bar, Picard receives a cryptic treasure map from Vash. It was triggered by his arrival on Risa.
- He closes the bar and follows the map (using his archeological skills) and locates a box buried in the jungles of Risa.
- Inside the box, Picard finds a 5-year-old girl in suspended animation and a note from Vash. It’s their love child.
- Vash knew where Picard would end up after retirement, and she didn’t want their child to grow up thinking everyone was like Q.
- By day, Picard runs the bar helping old friends through breezy plots of love, fulfillment, and redemption.
- By night, he faces a family he’s always dreamed about, but he has no idea what he’s doing. He finds that it’s easier to fight the Borg than to raise a little girl on Risa (even with a strong aversion to fire).
*** Update: I wrote Episode 1.
